Shiloh's Fairy, Flowers and Butterflies

I did everything that I was asked to do for this cake ... in pinks and mauves. The end result was very girly and beautiful. Only problem was this wasn't the cake the customer meant. She wanted a different design. Oops! Thankfully they were also happy with this cake but I must make sure to understand the type of cake wanted next time.

Tracy's Flower Abstract

A beautiful birthday cake for a VERY regular customer. I think this is her 10th or 11th cake for this year and there is still another one to come before the new year.

Isabella's Cat in Garden

The second time I have had to do a version of this one. Love putting all the little details on it.

Janet's Garden

I've always been a fan of the fresh colours of light apple green and white and this cake hasn't made me change my mind. The cake was commissioned for a lady who was turning 80 years young and loves gardening. I think it turned out really well, not too overdone.

Jenny's Wedding - $120

This cake has the distinction of being the last wedding cake I am going to make as I find them too stressful. Jenny just wanted a simple buttercream rough-iced two-tier cake with daisies cascading down it and ribbon threaded through the flowers. Sounds easy enough? But wait, there's more! She ALSO wanted four side cakes in different flavours and decorated in a similar manner. So this was a big weekend because I had six cakes (counting the two tiers) to make and decorate, not counting the two birthday cakes and the christening cake I also had to do. Congratulations Jenny and new husband. I hope you had a lovely day.

Shae's Fairy, Butterfly & Flowers - $130

What can I say - this cake has jumped to the head of the line where favourites is concerned. I love, love, love the colours. Another thing different is the fairy wings. I am using a new fabric and sequin wing set rather than the leaves I was using before. These are so superior and look just right. I want to do more of these cakes as this one was so enjoyable to make.

Melva's Flowers Galore - $100

Sometimes you imagine what a cake is going to look like in your head but when you start putting it together it turns out completely different. This is one like that. I had a design for this cake, but something happened and this is what I ended up with. I think it's a cake you either love or hate - I love it. The cake was first of all covered in white fondant then packed with flowers in shades of red/pink, purple and blue. On the top flowers I put a green cachous and then, of course, dusted the whole thing with the obligatory white glitter.

Leah's Tea Time - $30

This cake turned out a lot better than the picture shows. It was my first international order! A woman in the US emailed me and asked me to make a cake for her sister-in-law who works in Wellington. She wanted me to deliver it to her workplace as a surprise. I have made the letters out of crimson royal icing and then coated them in crimson edible glitter - gorgeous. The flowers and grass are made out of fondant. The flowers are in three sizes and vary in colour from the palest pink, through to a solid crimson. Looks great.
