Ethne's Shoes & Hearts

The cake was supplied by one of this lady's daughters. The other daughter is putting on the party. Ethne is at an age where we don't need the number on the cake, and she loves shoes, so that seemed the obvious decoration for this cake.

Rob's Shoe - $110

Oh, oh, look at this. It's the first shoe cake I have ever made and I am in love. The cake is just the shoe box and the shoe is all made with fondant. If I saw this pair of shoes in a shop and thought they would fit me, I would buy them. Tons of gold glitter and some gold balls on the flower. So decadent and feminine. I hope I get more shoe cakes to design.

Melva's Flowers Galore - $100

Sometimes you imagine what a cake is going to look like in your head but when you start putting it together it turns out completely different. This is one like that. I had a design for this cake, but something happened and this is what I ended up with. I think it's a cake you either love or hate - I love it. The cake was first of all covered in white fondant then packed with flowers in shades of red/pink, purple and blue. On the top flowers I put a green cachous and then, of course, dusted the whole thing with the obligatory white glitter.
