Larissa's Fairy, Butterfly and Flowers

This is the cake that put me in a spin. I had it marked down for May instead of April and if Karen hadn't rung me on Thursday night enquiring how it was all going, I would have experienced my worst nightmare and would have had a customer arriving at my door with no cake ready for them. Thankfully she did ring and I managed to put together this cake with a 24-hour turnaround. Not something I would want to do every day. As you can see, I was in such a rush that I forgot to remove the pins holding the fairies to the cake when I took the photo. I did remove them before I sent the cake away though.

Samantha's Shoes & Handbags

I had a bit of trouble designing this cake. First of all I put the shoe and handbag cutouts haphazardly all over the cake but then decided it all looked a bit messy. So I took them off and put them in a more orderly design - shoes on bottom tier and handbags (which you can't see in the photo) on the top tier. I was a lot happier with the result. This cake came with an order of 40 cupcakes as well, all with shoe, handbag or heart toppers.

Keira's Piglet

Ah, I should have listened to the old adage that the customer is always right. Keira's mother ordered a 3-tier Piglet cake which was fine. Then I had the bright idea of how about making the cake in the shape of Piglet instead. Hayley was content to go with whatever I suggested, so Piglet cake was duly made. However, because of the weight of his/her ears and the lightness of the cake used for the head, on the eve of the party the head caved in. In a turn around of approximately 18 hours, I made and decorated a 3-tier cake which I thought turned out really well - better than the first. So from now on no more bright ideas, just go with what the customer asked for.

Lily's Rabbit and Fairy

So cute! I have done Lily's birthday cake now for three years and it's wonderful to see her growing up from a 1-year-old to a now 3-year-old with her own likes and dislikes. This year she was specific in what sort of cake she wanted - pink - so the top tier of this cake is strawberry flavour. I love the toadstools, and the rabbits, and the little fairy Lily, and the flowers, and the rainbow. Yes, I loved everything about this cake.

Hunter's Winnie the Pooh

Gorgeous! This cake was iced in buttercream with fondant used only for the decorations. With the warm weather we have been having it did make things a bit more difficult, but I think the end result was lovely. I especially like the little bees on curled wire.

Brooke's Ballet Shoes

I had to make lots and lots of little ballet shoes for this cake, thank goodness I have a mould. The most time-consuming part was attaching all the little ribbons to the shoes. We finally got there and I hope Brooke will be pleased with the end result. I attempted to make the comedy/tragedy masks to decorate the top.

Hope's Poky Puppy

This is the second year I have made a cake for Hope, and I look forward to making more. Happy birthday Hope.

Isla's Tinkerbell

I was so pleased with how this one turned out. The Tinkerbell is made by me out of gumpaste and was really sweet. The little fairies around the outside of the cake were plastic models supplied by Isla's mother.

Katie's Princess

Everything on this cake is edible, even the princesses.

Still having trouble getting Dora right - she looks a bit like Angelina Jolie in this cake. Boots is excellent though.

A different version of the Winnie the Pooh theme. I loved it! The characters are so cute.

If I had to do this one again, I would make the princesses dress brighter, so she would stand out more.

Lara's Fairy House

My worst nightmare cake. It fell in half during delivery and all I could do was show pictures of how it looked at it's best. We managed to tart it up, but it didn't look the same. Money was refunded and Lara still thought it was the most beautiful cake she had ever seen.

Molly's Cupcake

Loved the finished product of this one. So girly and yet so colourful too.

This whole cake was sprayed with edible pearl spray and it looked really nice - it shone.
